Our History
Chartered in 1939, Beta Iota Lambda is the second‑oldest Alpha Phi Alpha alumni chapter in Louisiana. Its members have served as educators, business leaders, public servants, professionals, mentors, advocates, and community builders throughout Baton Rouge and Louisiana.

Alpha Phi Alpha Founded
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is founded at Cornell University, becoming the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American Men.
Beta Iota Lambda Chartered
Beta Iota Lambda Chapter is chartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, beginning a rich history of local service and leadership.
Continuing the Legacy
The chapter remains committed to its mission, continuing to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders through extensive community programs and advocacy.
Chapter Meetings
Regular chapter meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:06 p.m.
Note: No regular meeting is held in July. The Annual Planning Meeting takes place each August.
Visiting or inactive brothers are highly encouraged to contact the chapter prior to attending a meeting for location details and proper clearance.
